We had a wonderful Christmas this year. My father was able to come out for 4 weeks before Christmas and my sister, her family, mom, and brother, all came out for 10 days during Christmas. It was a wonderful surpise for the boys.

Colin is back in action with soccer this fall. His team has played together for a few seasons now and is the power-house of the league.

The boys participated in this year's Lamping ES "fun run" (which is oxymoronic in my world). Both boys ran in the 1 mile race where Colin came in ahead of his brother by a few minutes. I guess it's just one more thing Marek inherited from me; my utter dislike for running!

Marek chose a new venue for his birthday this year. He and his friends enjoyed a few hours in a bouncing utopia. It was a wonderful afternoon spent with many of his best pals. I sat back, astonished that my first born is already 8 years old. It's been a wonderful journey thus far...

Today Marek went to his first day of 3rd grade and Colin became a 1st grader. They both have wonderful teachers (in fact, the last picture is of Marek and his teacher) who were very welcoming.

This is a conglomeration of random pics that didn't really fit anywhere else. The first two are of the flowering plumb trees in my backyard. I took these just after I got my new camera.

The next three, the ones of the boys in grey shirts, were taken in January. Although it was freezing cold outside, the boys were both convinced that they would be warm in the pool if they put on their thermal shirts. I laughed so hard at their logic. After trying to stop them, they were persistant. I decided to step aside and let them test their theory themselves. Needless to say, they went running for the house just after their "winter dip" in the pool.

The next picture is of the boys after I let them do their own hair. Evidently they think that the more gel they use, the better they look. I've since had to regulate the use of gel in the house.

Finally, the last picture is of the three of us on St. Patrick's Day. Even though none of us has a lick of Irish in us, it's always fun to dress up.

My auntie Angie and uncle Phil visited us in March. Momo and I had a great time filled with good food and a lot of gambling. Momo even came out the winner a few times.

Both Marek and Colin had a wonderful opportunity to experience acting this year. The Green Valley High School theatre department needed squirrels for the play, Willy Wonka. Both boys took their part very seriously and, by week's end, had performed in front of hundreds of people.

Momo's 70th Birthday, March 2009

Momo was out here in Vegas for her 70th birthday. We had all of her favorite desert dwellers over for her party. She had her favorite cake (Chocolate Chip from Nothing Bundt Cakes) and a ton of gifts. Her favorite, of course, was her new Coach purse. Another of her favorite gifts was her Snuggie blanket that was put to good use during the cool desert nights.

Colin had a wonderful time at his birthday party. One of his favorite gifts that I gave him were Pixos. For those of you who are parents out there--if your child begs and begs, rethink your decision to purchase them; you'll be stepping on minute, plastic balls for the next year!

Cynthia celebrated her 42nd birthday this past January. Both Lizzy and Momo were in town to help her celebrate. We ate some of Momo's famous ribs for the birthday dinner.
